We are now recruiting for our well-established global service provider to the Freight forwarding, express and international parcels, and warehousing and logistics industry The network has more than 354 locations across 60 countries and with 13,000 employees serving alliance customers and attending to the details of their business round the clock, around the globe.

We now have a new vacancy for a Transport & Planning Manager RoadFreight based in Slough.

Your role will be to direct, manage and develop the contractual responsibilities and transport activities for the specified customer. To maintain and develop service levels to enhance continuous development. Responsibility for the organisation and control of the transport resources ensuring the delivery of a high quality and cost-efficient service to the customer. Ensure that the business solution is executed smoothly liaising with all departments in order to deliver the required service levels to the customer. To understand and works to the time sensitive nature of the deliveries and collections. To identify and highlight improvements to collection service working closely with partners to ensure a cost efficient business strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Dealing with Business Partners, other Offices and Resolving Operational Issues.
Manage collection and distribution channels through sub-contractors and development of successful relationships with these partners.
Administration and KPI reporting internally and for customers.
Manage the daily linehaul trailer requirement.
Manage and resolve outstanding POD issues with sub-contractors and other Offices.
Review working practices with Senior Operations Manager to improve efficiency.
Represent the depot at operational meetings and conference calls.
Manage the contract to improve profitability of collection/delivery service.
Constant updating of systems with accurate and reliable data updating route information.
Managing and leading staff, developing schemes and setting strategic objectives
To ensure that all relevant staff receive correct and adequate training opportunities to allow them to achieve their targets and perform their tasks with enthusiasm and efficiency.

Required experience & skills:
1. Proven transport planning experience utilising spreadsheets
2. Problem solving and decision making
3. Administration and organisational skills
4. Proficient IT knowledge to be developed into accrual control
5. Ability to build good customer and staff relationships
6. Proven experience of managing staff
7. Ensuring appropriate level of supervision of staff is achieved
8. Knowledge of transport and planning
9. Working under pressure
10. Commercial skills
11. Health & Safety knowledge
12. Understand and develop KPI reporting
13. Teamwork
14. Knowledge of performance appraisals and objective settings
15. Flexibility and adaptability
16. Knowledge of drivers regulations and compliance
17. Customs knowledge would be an advantage
