Business Development Manager
National Role / Remotely based from home
£28k/35k circa + OTE + Car

Our client is a global freight and logistics forwarding provider operating across land, air and sea freight movements and due to expansion, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our clients new start-up UK operations team.

This is a key role where you would be responsible for developing effective sales strategies and relationships across a broad range of customers. This is a targeted role where you will be responsible for gaining new customers and to develop and retain existing business though a consultative, service led sales approach.

Hours: Monday-Friday standardly 09:00-17:00 but flexible as youre expected to manage your own diary and time.

Key Responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining quality relationships with existing and prospective customers where appropriate.
Driving new business revenues in your designated territory.
Planning and co-ordinating your local area sales strategy, ensuring consistent and regular contact is maintained with existing and potential customers.
Gaining and understanding of customer needs and providing solutions to meet their requirements.
Generating new business appointments via all forms of communication.
Providing sales literature, raising quotations, and following up with customers.
Supporting and working closely with the operations team in order to provide solutions to customer needs
Price, quote, negotiate and organise freight movements with a vast contact base of sub-contractors.
Ensure solid cost control through the arrangement of transport solutions at the low rate, without compromising upon quality.
Complete and respond to all customer queries surrounding transport solutions.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping.

Key Skills:
Must have previous experience working in a new business & development role.
Previous experience working in the Freight, Logistics & Distribution/Transport industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A driven, determined personality with a high degree of organisational skills.
Experience working to business targets.
Proven B2B, face to face sales experience.
A full driving licence.
Excellent knowledge of freight and customs operations
Understanding of hauliers and trade lanes
