Freight Operations Coordinator

Our client is a well-established freight forwarding, transportation and logistics company with operations in road, rail, sea, air and warehousing, with offices globally.
We are now looking for freight Operations Clerk with an emphasis on imports for a global freight forwarder based in Wythenshawe

Your role will involve all aspects of freight forwarding with a focus on customer service. Freight Operations is key with focus on servicing the client and supporting the team in the branch on a day-to-day basis.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
oTo sort, filter and distribute documentation and create and maintain job files in an accurate and timely manner
oTo deal with all aspects of international and domestic freight movements
oTo monitor flights and vessel arrival times and inform the customer of delays
oTo act as a conduit between customers and suppliers to ensure all needs are met within the specified delivery time
oBe able to work without the aid of supervision
oTo liaise with overseas offices for shipment movements, taking responsibility for monitoring progress and keeping the customer advised of the status
oUpdating customer reports ensuring accuracy before sending to customers
oBooking deliveries & arranging collections
oCompleting Customs declarations in line with UK HMRC requirements including collecting Duty and VAT payments and monitoring the use of our deferment facility.
oRaising of Customer invoices and making sure job is profitable
oAny other reasonable request made from time to time

Job Role Essentials
oExperience of Freight forwarding ideally gained in an imports environment, cross training will be provided
oEducated to GCSE standard (minimum of 5)
oAbility and confidence to deal with customers on a daily basis
oAbility to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner
oFlexibility in a constantly changing environment with occasional out of hours working required
oIT literate (ability to utilise MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc.)
oEffective Time Management skills
oEffective organisational skills with significant focus on attention to detail
oExcellent telephone manor and ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and with clients

Package and Benefits

Salary £26,000 to £32,000 but flexible for the right candidate
26 days including 1 day off for your birthday, plus 8 statutory (January-December) opportunity to buy up to 5 extra days Holiday

Standard hours Mon-Fri 9-5.30pm, 1 hour for lunch
