Warehouse and Transport Operations Manager

Our client are experts in what is often referred to as Ugly or Out of Gauge freight. Handling thousands of consignments every month, delivered throughout the UK nationwide quickly & efficiently. They focus on performing to KPIs, providing outstanding customer service whilst working closely & in partnership with their clients.

To continue operating at their high standards, they are now seeking a WAREHOUSE and TRANSPORT OPERATIONS Manager whos a born leader. Based out of their busy site in WALSALL.

You will have proven experience overseeing WAREHOUSE and TRANSPORT operations as well as Human Resources, finance, communications and Health & Safety. The ideal candidate will be an expert communicator who has a strong ability to delegate responsibilities and collaborate across a wide range of departments. Ultimately, they'll be driven by a desire to lead our business to maximum productivity and efficiency.
Objectives of this role

Develop strategic plans for optimised productivity
Review and improve organisational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and creating innovative approaches to improvement.
Uphold standards of excellence and soaring quality.
Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships.
Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas.
Managing budgets across the whole operation
Recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff
Analysing productivity data and optimising staffing and production capacity
Maintaining a working knowledge of their industry including challenges and opportunities in the sector
Working closely with other heads of departments to improve efficiency
Creating and delivering reports and presentations to the Senior Management Team
Designing new processes to improve quality or increase productivity or profitability
Ensuring compliance with all relevant local and international laws regarding the operational side of the business, such as data management and safety standards


Oversee day-to-day operations, assign weekly performance goals and ensure their completion and accomplish your own goals
Recruit, on-board, and train high-performing employees to achieve maximum operational efficiencies
Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively
Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans
Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values
Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved

Skills and qualifications

Proven experience in a WAREHOUSE and TRANSPORT Managerial role
Good leadership qualities with the ability to provide direction
Excellent IT skills and knowledge and any industry-specific software or programmes
Strong decision-making ability
Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills
Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans
Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable
Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
Time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate when appropriate

£40k - £50k basic salary
Car / Car allowance
